ConcreteBeam is an app for structural engineers designing singly reinforced concrete beams in accordance with ACI 318-08. Analysis results are presented for flexure and shear based upon material properties and geometry selected by the user.
Flexural calculations confirm reinforcing steel area is in conformance with specified code limits. After each dimension change the capacity of the section is recomputed and presented. The section flexural capacity at the tension-controlled limit is displayed at the bottom of the view. The section neutral axis, steel strain, and steel percentage limits are constantly updated as well.
The shear view provides concrete shear capacity, stirrup steel capacity, and nominal section capacity for a range of stirrup spacings. The user has the ability to select specific stirrup spacings of interest as well.
ConcreteBeam is now a universal app for both iPhone and iPad. The interactive graphs have been improved by following the users touch as they slide across the display. Once the input is complete, output can now be printed to PDF and emailed.
